According to research appearing recently in US Today and other online locations, caregiving of grandchildren may slow cognitive decline. Parenting is hard and having Nan and Papo (our nicknames) nearby for most of our kids isn't just handy. It is a prescription for better brain health.
As grandparents, we know that watching grands can be a workout. There is the exercise bonus and now the better brain health connection. In our household we view our ability to help with grandchildren a gift not a chore.
Some may start "small group" gatherings in their homes for Bible study and relationship building and there is nothing wrong with that idea. For us, every gathering of our five adult kids, spouses and eight grandchildren is a small group all by itself. And we love it.
This equation is real: Gut Health=Heart Health=Brain Health.
